Everything You Need to Know About WanderCARE
Your Questions About Pediatric Direct Primary Care (DPC) Answered
Choosing a Pediatrician is a big decision for your family. At WanderCARE Pediatrics, we believe in radical transparency. Whether you are visiting our Epping, NH office or interested in premium house calls in Portsmouth, Exeter, Hampton, Manchester, Plaistow, Dover, or Newburyport, Dr. Jo is here to provide the clarity you need.
The DPC Model & Insurance
What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)? Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model where you pay your doctor directly via a transparent membership fee rather than through an insurance company. This allows Dr. Jo to spend more time with you and your child and offer same or next-day access without the "middleman" of insurance red tape.
Why don’t you take insurance? By not billing insurance, WanderCARE can offer 30–60 minute appointments, direct text/cell access to your doctor, and all-inclusive pricing. For families with high-deductible plans, our membership is often more affordable than the cumulative cost of co-pays, facility fees, and surprise bills from traditional clinics.
Do I still need insurance if I join WanderCARE? Yes. While insurance is not required to be a patients at Wandercare, we recommend all families maintain a high-deductible or "wraparound" insurance plan for catastrophic events, hospitalizations, or specialist visits. WanderCARE handles 90% of your primary and urgent care needs, while your insurance is there for the "big stuff."
Appointments & Accessibility
Where are visits held? You have options! We have a boutique, stress-free office in Epping, NH, where Dr. Jo personally greets you at the door. For those seeking the ultimate convenience, we offer premium house call memberships throughout the Seacoast and Northern MA.
What happens if my child gets sick after hours? One of the biggest perks of WanderCARE is direct access. Our members have Dr. Jo’s direct contact information. You can text or call your doctor for triage, often avoiding a trip to an impersonal, expensive Urgent Care kiosk.
Are all testing and procedures included? Yes! For our members, all in-office testing (Strep, Flu, COVID, etc.) and basic procedures are included in your membership fee. There are no hidden "per-swab" charges.
Special Services (All Ages)
Do you only see children? No! While Dr. Jo is a board-certified Pediatrician, she practiced urgent care for all ages for 10 years! Wandercare offer an Urgent Care Membership and Travel Medicine Consultations for adults as well! This allows parents in the Seacoast NH area to enjoy the same personalized, "no-wait" care as their children.
Can I get a one-time visit without a membership? We offer one-time visits for Urgent Care, Travel Medicine, Medical Ear Piercing, and Tongue-Tie Evaluations. However, our memberships offer the best value and the most consistent access to care.
